Marriage ministry
Marriage ministry includes:
- Marriage Preparation for engaged couples,
- FOCCUS,
- Marriage Enrichment Programs like
- Marriage Encounter,
- Retrouvaille program - help for troubled couples
- Training for facilitators of all these programs.
Consult the attached calendar for a listing of available marriage preparation and enrichment programs in our diocese and in the surrounding dioceses. Participation in a preparation program of at least six hours under the leadership of a priest with a lay couple team or a licensed counselor or socialworker qualifies the couple for a discount on the marriage license in Georgia.
Preparation workshops are offered at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Savannah, St. Anne Church in Columbus, the Augusta deanery churches, St. Peter the Apostle Church in Savannah, Sacred Heart Church in Warner Robins and St. Joseph Church in Macon. In 2009 Marriage Preparation Workshops for the Savannah Deanery will be offered at St. Frances Cabrini Church on the following weekends: Jan 16-17, Apr 24-25, Aug 7-8, Oct 16-17.
The REMARRIAGE PREPARATION WORKSHOP is offered twice a year in conjunction with the Savannah Deanery workshop on Jan 16-17 and August 7-8. This workshop is especially directed to those couples who have been previously married and have an annulment or dispensation. It is also appropriate for widows and widowers entering into another relationship or those couples who willl have their civil marriage validated in the Church.

Spanish marriage preparation programs are offered through the parishes as retreat days or with sponsor couples. Contact your pastor directly for more information. Couples may also participate in Renovación Conyugal. Dates are listed under the Hispanic Ministry department.
