Bishop J. Kevin Boland, has announced the following assignments:

  • Reverend Thomas Healy – Appointed Pastor of St. Joseph Church, Augusta, effective September 1, 2009
  • Reverend John Lyons – Appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Savannah, effective September 1, 2009
  • Reverend Paul O’Connell – Appointed Pastor of St. Joseph Church, Waycross, effective September 1, 2009
  • Reverend Raymond Levreault – Appointed Pastor of St. Paul Church, Douglas and its missions of St. William, Fitzgerald, and Holy Family, Willacoochee, effective July 8, 2009
  • Reverend Rafael Estrada – Appointed Pastor of Good Shepherd Church, Hazlehurst, and its missions of St. Rose of Lima, Baxley, and St. Raymond, Alma, effective September 1, 2009
  • Reverend Martino Bá Thông Nguyen – Appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Teresa of Avila Church, Grovetown, effective July 8, 2009
  • Reverend David Koetter – Appointed Parochial Vicar of St. James Church, Savannah, effective July 8, 2009

  • Reverend Patrick Otor, M.S.P. - On presentation of Very Reverend Desmond Ohankwere, M.S.P., Regional Superior, Missionary Society of St. Paul, USA, appointed Pastoral Administrator of Sacred Heart Church, Waynesboro, and St. Joan of Arc Church, Louisville, effective August 1, 2009.
  • Reverend Rudy V. Breunig, S.T. – On presentation of Very Reverend John S. Edmunds, S.T., General Custodian of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Joseph Church, Bainbridge, and its mission, Church of the Incarnation, Donalsonville, effective September 1, 2009
  • Reverend John C. Markham – Continues in appointment as Parochial Vicar of St. Frances Cabrini Church, Savannah, and appointed Chaplain to Memorial Health and Candler hospitals and Hospice in Savannah, effective September 1, 2009
  • Reverend Richard Young – Appointed Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Church, Savannah, and continues his ministries as Port Chaplain for the Savannah Port, and at Coastal State Prison in Savannah, effective September 1, 2009
  • Reverend John R. Johnson – Will begin post-graduate studies in Family Ministry at Pope John Paul II Institute, Washington, D.C., effective August 1, 2009
  • Reverend Stephen Pontzer – Will begin Spanish language studies with residence in a parish in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, effective July 8, 2009 for a period of six months. 

  • Reverend Monsignor Francis J. Nelson – His request to step down as Vicar General becomes effective September 1, 2009
  • Reverend Francis C. Higgins – His request to retire from active ministry becomes effective September 1, 2009
  • Reverend Aaron D. Killips – Granted a leave of absence, effective July 22, 2009. 

  • Deacon Fretwell G. Crider – Granted Retirement, effective June 15, 2009.
  • Deacon David V. Hayden – Assigned Permanent Deacon to St. Michael’s Parish, Tybee Island, effective August 1, 2009
  • Deacon Lawrence A. Guyer – Granted Leave of Absence, effective July 1, 2009
