Dear Friends in Christ,

“Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.”
MT 5:15:12

I write to you today to once again express my gratitude for your faithful commitment to the mission of our local Church. Each year, your generous support of the Annual Catholic Appeal helps the Diocese of Savannah to sustain vital ministries, programs, and outreach efforts in our parishes – giving light to all in the house and building up the Kingdom of God.

When we come together in support of the Annual Catholic Appeal, we as a Diocesan family are participating in the Church’s evangelization efforts, advancing Catholic Education, and providing for the formation of our future priests. We are strengthening families in faith – planting seeds for Catholic vocations and for lives lived in the fullness of Christ’s peace, joy and love. Together we are caring for the vulnerable and suffering, accompanying the sick, supporting our rural mission parishes, protecting our youth, and helping to bring healing to those who have been separated from the Catholic Church.

As we prepare for the 2023 Annual Catholic Appeal, I ask you to reflect upon the following… Where does your light shine? What activities within the Church are you passionate about? Where would you like to see our local Church flourish and bear much fruit?

I invite you to pray for those ministries and activities the Lord has placed on your heart, and consider how you might respond to His call in faith, in hope, and in the love that makes us one. For those who are able, I ask you to consider how will support the mission of our local Church through a gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal. Together, let us invite the unbounded grace of God to work through us as a gift to one another and to the world.

Please know that every day I pray for you, your loved ones and your intentions. Thank you for remembering me, as well as our clergy, religious sisters, and those in need, in your prayers. May we meet each day in our prayers and Rejoice in the Lord Always!

Les escribo hoy para expresarles nuevamente mi agradecimiento por su fiel compromiso con la misión de nuestra Iglesia local. Cada año, su generoso apoyo a la Campaña Católica Anual ayuda a la Diócesis de Savannah a mantener ministerios, programas y esfuerzos de difusión vitales en nuestras parroquias, iluminando a todos en la casa y construyendo el Reino de Dios.

Cuando juntos apoyamos la Campaña Católica Anual, como una familia diocesana, participamos en los esfuerzos de evangelización de la Iglesia, promoviendo la educación católica y haciendo posible la formación de nuestros futuros sacerdotes. Así fortalecemos la fe en las familias, sembrando semillas de vocaciones católicas y de vidas vividas en la plenitud de la paz, alegría y amor de Cristo. Cuidamos juntos a los vulnerables y a los que sufren, acompañamos a los enfermos, apoyamos a nuestras parroquias misioneras rurales, protegemos a nuestra juventud y ayudamos a sanar a aquellos separados de la Iglesia Católica.

Mientras nos preparamos para la Campaña Católica Anual 2023, les pido reflexionen en lo siguiente... ¿Dónde brilla tu luz? ¿Qué actividades dentro de la Iglesia te apasionan? ¿Dónde te gustaría ver que nuestra Iglesia local florezca y de mucho fruto?

Los invito a orar por estos ministerios y actividades que el Señor ha puesto en su corazón, y consideren cómo pueden responder a Su llamado en la fe, en la esperanza y en el amor que nos hace uno solo. Para aquellos que puedan, les pido que consideren cómo apoyarán la misión de nuestra Iglesia local a través de una donación a la Campaña Católica Anual. Juntos, invitemos a la ilimitada gracia de Dios, a que actúe a través de nosotros como un don para los demás y para el mundo.

Sepan que rezo por ustedes todos los días, sus seres queridos y sus intenciones. Gracias por acordarse en sus oraciones de mí, así como de nuestro clero, hermanas religiosas y los necesitados. ¡Que nos encontremos a diario en nuestras oraciones y ¡Regocijarnos Siempre en el Señor!

Tôi viết cho anh chị em hôm nay để một lần nữa bày tỏ lòng biết ơn của tôi vì anh chị em cam kết trung thành với sứ mệnh của Giáo hội địa phương chúng ta. Mỗi năm, sự hỗ trợ hào phóng của anh chị em cho Lời kêu gọi Quyên Góp Công Giáo Thường Niên đã giúp Giáo Phận Savannah duy trì các chương trình mục vụ, và các nỗ lực tiếp cận trong các giáo xứ để mang lại ánh sáng cho mọi người trong nhà và xây dựng Vương quốc của Chúa.

Khi chúng ta cùng nhau ủng hộ lời kêu gọi Quyên Góp Công Giáo Thường Niên, thì với tư cách là một gia đình trong Giáo phận chúng ta đang tham gia vào các nỗ lực truyền giáo của Giáo hội, thúc đẩy Giáo dục Công Giáo và cung cấp sự đào tạo cho các linh mục tương lai của chúng ta. Chúng ta đang củng cố các gia đình trong đức tin - gieo hạt giống cho ơn gọi Công giáo và cho mọi người được sống trong bình an, niềm vui và tình yêu trọn vẹn của Chúa Kitô. Chúng ta cùng nhau chăm sóc những người dễ bị tổn thương và đau khổ, đồng hành với người bệnh, hỗ trợ các giáo xứ truyền giáo ở nông thôn, bảo vệ giới trẻ của chúng ta và giúp mang lại sự chữa lành cho những người đã tách khỏi Giáo hội Công giáo.

Khi chúng ta chuẩn bị cho lời kêu gọi Quyên Góp Công Giáo Thường Niên năm 2023, tôi xin anh chị em suy nghĩ về những điều sau đây… Ánh sáng của anh chị em đang chiếu ở đâu? Anh chị em đam mê những hoạt động nào trong Giáo Hội? Anh chị em muốn thấy Giáo hội địa phương của chúng ta phát triển và sinh nhiều hoa trái ở đâu?

Tôi kêu mời anh chị em cầu nguyện cho những mục vụ và hoạt động mà Chúa đã đặt để trong lòng anh chị em, và xem xét cách anh chị em có thể đáp lại lời kêu gọi của Ngài trong đức tin, đức cậy và đức mến để chúng ta nên một. Đối với những ai có khả năng, tôi xin anh chị em xem xét cách hỗ trợ sứ mệnh của Giáo hội địa phương chúng ta bằng một món quà cho Lời kêu gọi Quyên Góp Công Giáo Thường Niên. Cùng nhau, chúng ta hãy mời gọi ân sủng vô biên của Thiên Chúa hoạt động qua chúng ta như một món quà cho nhau và cho thế giới.

Xin hãy biết rằng mỗi ngày tôi cầu nguyện cho anh chị em, cho những người thân yêu của anh chị em và cho những dự định của anh chị em. Cảm ơn anh chị em đã nhớ đến tôi, cũng như các linh mục, giáo sĩ, các nữ tu và những người đang gặp khó khăn trong lời cầu nguyện của anh chị em. Ước gì chúng ta gặp nhau mỗi ngày trong lời cầu nguyện và xin mọi người Hãy Vui Luôn Trong Chúa!
