Immaculate Conception Catholic School is the parish school for Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The school had its beginnings in 1902 when Franciscan Sisters opened a boarding school for girls in Augusta, GA. In 1913, the African Missionary Fathers built and dedicated Immaculate Conception Church and Immaculate Conception Academy in Augusta, and they asked the Franciscan Sisters to bring their boarding school students to the new school to take on this larger teaching mission. From that time until now, Immaculate Conception Catholic School continues its 102 year old tradition of preparing children for the future through knowledge, morals, discipline, and faith.
In 2015, under the direction and leadership of the pastor of MHT, Fr. Jacek Szuster, who was also named Pastor of the Year by the National Catholic Educational Association in 2014 for his work at ICCS, the school became the first and only fully inclusive special education school in the Diocese of Savannah, Georgia. Immaculate Conception has transformed from a traditional Catholic school into a new Center for Individualized Student Learning. The school offers three types of special education services to families. Children with mild disabilities attend classes in the general education classroom all day with the support of a certified special education teacher. Students with moderate disabilities receive their core instruction in a learning lab with a special education teacher and return to the general education classroom for all other subjects and activities. Students with more severe disabilities receive all their instruction in a self-contained classroom setting, but join their peers for lunch, recess, art, PE, and music. The school also provides students access to occupational, physical, and speech therapy if needed. All classes are capped at 10 students and all students are tested receive individualized student learning plans.
The new programs and structure at the school have been a true blessing, not only to the school itself, but also to the local community, and Diocese.
