Christmas Reflection - 2014

Advent and Christmas present to us a wonderful season to ponder upon the importance of Child and Youth Protection.

Consider Christ’s birth.  We are given the gift of a small, fragile infant.  A baby, who requires our nourishment and care, yet is powerful enough to save mankind from sin and darkness.

Remembering that we are created in God’s image, we can see a similarity between the infant Jesus and our own children.  They are so very fragile as youth, but once grown have such great potential.    Following the nurturing examples of Mary and Joseph, we become the protectors, providers and teachers of the youth of our Church.

The Office for the Protection of Children and Young People is most grateful for the blessings of the volunteers of our Diocese, and the steps they have taken to safely guide our youth upon their spiritual journey.  May God’s graces be bountifully bestowed upon you in this New Year.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. - John 3:16
