All of our Diocesan parishes/schools/outreach centers should have an employee or volunteer who maintains the records for Safe Environment Compliance for their entity.
This person can be trained for local administrator privileges for their location on the VIRTUS website, enabling the Pastor/Principal/Agency Director to have the most up-to-date compliance information for their location. The local administrator will also be able to verify compliance information for anyone in the database for the Diocese of Savannah, giving them the ability to clear volunteers who recently moved from another location.
Training takes about 1.5 hours and can easily be completed pairing online training and phone conferencing. A YouTube video has been created to demonstrate the benefits of local administrator privileges and can be viewed at http://bit.ly/1zOFs1n.
The office will begin sending out Master Reports by mid-February in preparation for the 2015 audit for compliance with the Charter for Protection of Children and Young People. Completion of training prior to work on the audit will help your staff with efficiency and accountability.
