Protecting God's Children

A VIRTUS program developed by National Catholic Risk Retention Group. This program applies a best-practice approach for preventing child sexual abuse and is designed for adults. Participation is required of all priests, deacons, seminarians, and religious in the diocese as well as all diocesan employees (full-time and part-time) and volunteers whose duties include ongoing, unsupervised contact with minors.

Awareness sessions are offered in English and Spanish throughout the diocese. Visit VIRTUS.ORG for a schedule of upcoming sessions.

Teens

Youth Volunteer Guidelines

Volunteer ministry is a vital aspect to our spiritual growth as Catholics. Many teens begin their life of stewardship by helping with the Faith Formation Program or Vacation Bible School at their parish. Guidelines have been put into place to help them understand how they can be protectors of those younger children they are working with.

Program Directors will review the guidelines with the volunteer, and parents will be required to validate their teen understands the guidelines.
