Construction and Property Services

The Office of Construction & Property Services works to assist in good maintenance of existing properties and ensure the integrity of new building construction or renovation projects.

The office is responsible for monitoring the renovation and maintenance of all Diocesan properties not directly under a parish of Diocesan agency.

The office remains up to date on current trends in construction that have implications for Diocesan properties; including applicable Building Code requirements. At the request of the Bishop, we visit existing properties to assess and report on their condition.

The office is often involved in parish building projects, including:

  • Meeting with parish planning & building committees in early stages.
  • Meeting with the Diocesan Finance Council and providing status of construction projects as appropriate. Acts as a resource person in regard to past construction projects.
  • Reviewing architectural documents at various stages of development.
  • Assisting with prequalification of contractors and the bidding process.

Additionally, the office:

  • Maintains good communication with pastors and parish committees through the construction period
  • Reviews construction drawings
  • Stays in constant communication with architect from start to finish
  • Reviews and evaluates construction Change Orders
  • Inspects work in progress
  • Participates in punch list walk-through and acceptance procedures
  • Keeps Diocesan Finance Officer apprised of probable costs and draw schedules
  • Reviews and approves contractors’ request for payment
  • Submits summary comments at completion of each project
