Community Navigator Specialist/Administrative Assistant

Overview

The Catholic Diocese of Savannah is seeking a Community Navigator Specialist/Administrative Assistant for the office of Catholic Charities of South Georgia. Catholic Charities of South Georgia offers a variety of social services programs to individuals, families and communities throughout South Georgia; regardless of race, faith or ethnic background.

The Community Navigator Specialist/Administrative Assistant position will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the Diocesan Director and will be responsible for delivering consistent and professional service to customers with social service needs via telephone, in-person, e-mail or other forms of communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer phone, e-mails, texts and assess caller’s needs
  • Make accurate referrals as necessary
  • Conduct follow-up and advocacy as appropriate
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings
  • Assure uninterrupted day-to-day operations
  • Maintain database of community resources, client needs and volunteers
  • Represent Catholic Charities of South Georgia on special events and community meetings
  • Identify, contact and maintain knowledge of formal and informal resources throughout South Georgia that provide family support and emergency assistance
  • Assist in event planning and execution
  • Prepare communications, such as letters, e-mails, invoices, reports and other correspondence
  • Schedule meetings and maintain calendars
  • Perform other related duties, tasks or projects assigned
  • Must be able to travel overnight if needed

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Bilingual and able to read, write and speak one of the following: Spanish/French/Swahili
  • Computer proficiency: MS Office Suite, database knowledge a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in customer service
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate independent thinking and problem-solving
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues, clients, and/or outside agencies
  • Effectively work with individuals of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to multi-task between projects
  • Strong organizational skills
