Assistant Communications Director | Savannah


The Catholic Diocese of Savannah (Georgia) is recruiting for an Assistant Communications Director. This position will have a primary focus on the monthly diocesan magazine, the Southern Cross, and will also be an integral part of the communications team. This position will work with a variety of platforms, media, and audiences to help spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and form faithful Catholics throughout the 90 counties of the diocese.

Specific duties include coordination of the publication process for the 32-page monthly magazine and oversight of associated content for websites and social media; print and digital content creation; and creative direction for multiple deadline-driven projects. Management responsibilities include budget preparation and oversight, staff supervision, and project development. Some travel is required.

Candidate must be an active, practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church and possess in-depth knowledge of Roman Catholic teaching, structure, traditions, and current affairs.

A minimum of 10 years’ hands-on and management experience in writing, editing, publishing, design, and/or related field(s) is required. Candidates should also possess sound critical thinking and judgment skills; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; and a solid understanding of how to communicate effectively to a wide-ranging audience.
