Avila Catholic Academy is set to open in August 2024 as a new Catholic school serving students from 1-year old to grade five rooted in a classical curriculum. A principal shall be in place no later than October 2023 to prepare for the inaugural school year. Working with the Office of Catholic Schools, the duties of the principal will include managing all tasks required to prepare for opening a new school. Under the supervision of the Pastor, the Principal fulfills the mission of the Catholic school serving as the spiritual, educational, visionary, relational and managerial leader charged with implementing the philosophy, mission, and management of the school. The principal is responsible for the professionalism of the faculty and staff, educational achievements of students, and cultivating a mutually positive relationship with the school and parish communities.
Academic/Professional Requirements

Master’s Degree in the field of educational leadership/school administration

Eligible for Georgia Elementary Leadership Certification (L5)

Successful teaching experiences (minimum of 5 years) at the Elementary and/or Middle School level

Obtain/maintain Catechetical certification

Experience with school finance/budgeting requirements and federal programs

Understanding of Catholic theology and philosophy of Catholic education

Evidence of continuing education

Leadership experience preferred

Classical curriculum experience preferred

Three (3) references are required; at least one shall be from a Pastor

Must be a practicing Catholic in good-standing with the Church.

Maintain a personal philosophy, values, and lifestyle consistent with the tenants of the Catholic faith.

Ability to work collaboratively with parish administration, diocesan personnel, faculty/staff, parents and parish organizations.

Ability to articulate and implement a vision for the school in areas of Catholic identity, academics, service, and advancement.
