St. Joseph’s Catholic School is a private, Catholic school in downtown Macon, GA. It was founded in 1872 and was originally staffed by the Sisters of Mercy. St. Joseph's Catholic School operates within the Diocese of Savannah and today the school has an enrollment of approximately 190 students in grades PK2 - 6th.

St. Joseph's Catholic School is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment, delivering academic excellence rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The school is seeking a full-time, experienced Director of Advancement to manage fundraising and constituent relations. The position reports directly to the principal and is responsible for strategically promoting the school’s brand, cultivating relationships with key constituents, and soliciting gifts that support the school’s mission for Catholic education.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Principal, Pastor, and other key members of the school community in developing and executing the school's comprehensive strategic advancement plan.
  • Meet established fundraising goals, understanding the critical role that donor participation plays in ensuring the success of the school's mission.
  • Develop a strategic plan for institutional advancement that includes appropriate donor cultivation, personal contact, effective solicitation, and ongoing relationships. · Continue to increase major gifts, planned giving, foundation support, and corporate support, in line with the growth trajectory and revenue assumptions, increasing gifts to the endowment.
  • Direct the major fundraising initiatives, including the 1872 Fund (annual fund) and the Legacy Endowment, major gifts, planned-giving and grants.
  • Participate in planning and executing donor focused events.
  • Conduct independent research to identify prospective donors from a variety of constituencies.
  • Prepare written development materials including case statements, proposals, and fundraising initiative/campaign related literature.
  • Draft, with support, the proposed budget for the position.
  • Ensure the proper receiving, allocating, recording, and acknowledging of all gifts.
  • Coordinate with Director of Admissions to facilitate an enrollment management program to meet the goals of the school.
  • Promote all giving initiatives including scholarship funds, endowments, and project giving.
  • Seek and apply for applicable grant opportunities to support Catholic education and school programs.

Qualifications

  • An authentic desire to embrace and advance the mission of St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or other applicable field
  • Experience in development, marketing, or related field
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in growing revenue, specifically relating to fundraising or admissions.
  • Fluency with donor tracking software such as FACTS Management, prospect research technology, and social media platforms.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication and public presentation skills, and superior interpersonal skills, connecting with various constituents and audiences.
  • Experience in donor prospecting, cultivating and developing relationships with key donors, and achieving success with major gifts.
  • Understanding of how to build and expand the donor base through a variety of appropriate and effective strategies that are carefully shaped and uniquely targeted to various constituencies.
  • Ability to manage/oversee special events
  • Ability to provide meaningful, productive engagement opportunities for volunteers assisting with the Advancement initiatives.
  • A mature understanding of the critical role that Advancement plays in fulfilling the school’s mission, and a relentless commitment to achieving Advancement goals.
  • Familiarity with IRS regulations as they relate to philanthropic giving and industry accounting and reporting standards.
